Kekeli Community Group
Formed in 2017, the Kekeli group was established thanks to an entrepreneur in the community who has previously benefitted from a Deki loan and training as part of a savings group.
When she moved to the Amadahomé region in Lome, she wanted to bring the same benefit to her new community. She talked to local entrepreneurs who were ready to expand their businesses and together they formed the group with the help of IADES.
Now with 17 members, the group has a diverse set of entrepreneurs, their businesses range from selling selling fresh fish, fruits, cereals and tomatoes to running a hairdressing stall or preparing and selling yoghurt and degue. Degue, pictured below, is a sweet millet couscous dish, eaten in most of West Africa, and special favourite in the local area in Lome. It’s made with wheat or millet granules being mixed with milk, sweetened condensed milk, or yogurt, as well as dried fruit such as raisins, desiccated coconut, and spices such as nutmeg.
The Kekeli Community Group members are looking forward to raising the £1,869 to further strengthen their businesses and improve their living conditions thanks to generous sponsors, such as yourself. Being financially included and receiving vital business and financial training will increase their revenue and purchasing ability and ultimately help the Kekeli Group and their whole community develop financial resilience for the long-term.
